Silex Technology presents second-generation USB device server – with Gigabit Ethernet
Krefeld, December 8, 2009 – Silex Technology presents the next generation of its USB device servers – a Gigabit Ethernet version with extended compatibility, improved and added functions and higher data rates.
The SX-3000GB USB device server is the first product in the new generation of technology. It can connect a variety of USB devices to the network so they can be used from any workstation on the network. Nearly any USB device imaginable is compatible, such as dongles, printers, speakers, LCD monitors, MP3 players, multifunctional units, scanners, storage media and TV tuners.
The new USB device server supports a Gigabit Ethernet connection. It has two USB connections with the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 standard. One of the connections has a power supply that can deliver four times the current provided by a conventional USB port, at 2000 mA (milliamperes). The unit is also a print server and compatible with the current printer protocols IPP (Internet Printing Protocol), LPR (Line Printer Remote protocol), RAW and GDI (Graphics Device Interface).
Like the devices in the first generation, the latest can also handle up to 15 simultaneous USB connections. The USB device servers are compatible with the virtualisation programs and environments VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Terminal Server and Hyper-V. They support the tools of scanner manufacturers and all current scan software, as well as the two standard scan drivers Twain and ISIS.
Status information for the USB devices connected can be retrieved over the network. The included software tool SX Virtual Link can provide a clear overview of all devices connected. Security is ensured by means of an IP address filter. The USB device server is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh.
