Wireless LAN Module with 802.11n (Draft 2.0) support
New Mini PCI module SX-10WAN Operates at Speeds Up to Five Times as Fast as 802.11a/g.
Meerbusch, Germany, 22.10.2008 – Silex Technology, Inc. announced its new SX-10WAN 802.11n/a/b/g module for embedded wireless applications. This Mini PCI Type IIIA module supports the rapidly emerging 802.11n Draft 2.0 standard, which was designed for substantially improving the performance of wireless LAN (WLAN) networks. The 300Mbps maximum date rate of 802.11n is five times as fast as the current 802.11a/g wireless LAN standards. The higher performance of the SX-10WAN combined with its quality of service (QOS) support enables the rapid transmission of high-resolution images, video, music and other high-volume data applications.
Based on the powerful Atheros 9160/9106 chipset, the SX-10WAN is equipped with MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) 3X3 smart antenna technology to ensure high-speed and stable communications. It operates in both the 5GHz and 2.4Ghz bands, and it supports 802.11a/b/g for compatibility with existing wireless LAN equipment. The SX-10WAN can be used in almost any embedded application that requires high speed wireless LAN connectivity, including access points, medical devices, point of sale terminals, printers, and much more. It is certified for operation in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
“The SX-10WAN is a key component of Silex’s module strategy,” said Christoph Grüten, General Manger of Silex Technology Europe. “It is a high-end high-performance product that allows us to provide an industry-leading range of standard and intelligent wireless LAN module solutions. We will also use the SX-10WAN to enable 802.11n capabilities in some of our other product lines, such as our USB and serial device servers.”
