Effective immediately, USB Device Servers purchased from SILEX are also full-function print servers by means of new firmware. Two devices in one!! And without additional costs or effort! Through the new firmware, the popular USB Device Servers are now simultaneously print servers. Maximum compatibility with all important operation and printing systems (e.g. LPR, Raw, IPP) is offered to the user and all print server-capable printers can be implemented on a network, as required, without additional installation of software (e.g. over the Windows standard TCP/IP port). Furthermore, many USB devices, like multi-function printers, scanners and storage media, can be comfortably activated and controlled over the software tool SX Virtual Link.

Of course, the standard functions of the USB Device Servers for printing tasks remain intact, such as the supervision of the printer queue with automatic connection establishment,  separation after completion of the print job, as well as displaying the status monitor of multifunction equipment or GDI printers. You can simultaneously establish up to 15 USB connections per USB Device Server so more equipment can be distributed around the network over a USB Device Server.

A known scenario: The network printer should be installed where everyone can access it easily, but no network connection is available there.effort and expense and the printer doesn't have a WLAN interface. Help comes in the form of two new products from SILEX which make network printers and all other Ethernet devices wireless-capable in a simple and secure way. The advantages are obvious: neither existing devices have to be exchanged nor new network cabling has to be installed. The IPv6-IPv4 converter SX-2600CV ties IPv4 devices into an IPv6 network easily and without  high costs and does this without any firmware or software update. This external box functions as a Gateway for traditional IPv4 equipment. Through translation of the IPv4 protocols, the communication possibilities of a purely IPv4 device are expanded and access to IPv6 networks becomes possible. Until now, equipment which normally only supports IPv4 protocols are useless in an IPv6 environment and must be replaced, which causes enormous administration, configuration and operating costs. Hewlet-Packard’s Imaging and Printing Group, based in Boeblingen, Germany and operating Europe-wide, has tested the USB Device Server from SILEX with HP document scanners. The results of this testing allow HP to certify and recommend the SX-2000U2. As an example, the HP document scanner Scanjet 7800 and Scanjet 8270, together with the SILEX Network Server, can be accessed by multiple users in an existing network. The use of high-quality document scanners around the network considerably reduces costs for the enterprise since every workplace no longer needs an individual scanner of its own. Now a workgroup can share a single scanner. Deciding in favor of a SILEX network solution brings with it increased security as a decisive reason on top of the cost saving.
