About silex technology
silex technology europe GmbH is since 2000 a subsidiary of the Japanese company silex technology, Inc. (JASDAQ: 6679). The parent corporation in
Today, the silex Group is not only the world leader in integrated networked printing technology but also recognized as a leading supplier of USB, serial and WLAN connectivity. Many well-known leading manufacturers of IT peripherals use OEM-licensed silex technologies in their products. The variety of printing devices, USB and serial device servers, internet security and biometry and connectivity solutions as well as the unique wireless iPod provide the right solution for any application (documents, healthcare, production/automation, measuring/weighing). silex also offers superior services. silex technology guarantees every one of its quality products for life.
The silex core competencies are:
1. Network Print Solutions
Most printer manufacturers use silex network technologies under OEM (original equipment manufacturer) license. In addition, silex technology offers a comprehensive line of external and internal print servers. Some of them were developed in close cooperation with various printer manufacturers.
2. USB Device Servers
silex offers special solutions for just about every USB device on the market – from digital cameras, printers, multifunction devices, mp3 players, or external hard drives to offbeat USB terminal devices like sewing machines and medical equipment: Sample: Network Scanning Solutions: Scanners can be easily networked using USB device servers which, among other things, makes better use of investments into high-quality document scanners.
3. Serial Device Servers
Serial device servers allow the integration of different serial devices (e.g. medical devices, measuring & weighing devices, automatic manufacturing devices) via Ethernet or wireless into network. Due to the high degree of network security, serial device servers can be used in any enviroment and for any types of applications. The fast and easy implementation of the different modules shortens time to production and therefore increases productivity.
4. Wireless Modules / OEM
silex wireless modules are used to make serial devices easily and securely WLAN-capable. The advantages of wireless networking are obvious. With the modules, devices are enabled for wireless communication easily and with the highest degree of data transmission reliability. silex specializes in the development of customer-specific solutions. With the silex embedded modules and products based on our network product line we specifically address manufacturers looking for an OEM-solution or a product with their own brand label.
5. Converters
silex converters are ideal for the wireless integration of Ethernet printers, scanners and multifunction devices into a network without changes to drivers and existing managememt software. Nonstandard devices like POS-terminals, medical or industrial control devices as well as computers, of course, are enabled for wireless connectivity. Furthermore, protocol converter devices “speaking” only IPv4 are now made accessible in IPv6 networks.
6. Audio Video ConnectivityThe Network Display Adapter NetDA-1 connects displays with VGA interfaces into wired or wireless networks, turning them into remote controllable additional screens. Up to six displays can be connected to a computer using six NetDA-1 units, and managed centrally.
With wiDock, silex's Wireless Dock for iPod, silex was the first and only company providing wireless synchronization of iPods with iTunes on a PC or Mac. At the same time, wiDock also integrates the iPod in the home entertainment system (stereo, TV) and is used as a charging station.
7. Biometric Solutions
The S1 model, for example, is a USB fingerprint reader for extremely reliable authentication at PC and laptop computers. In contrast to capacitive readers, the S1 is not susceptible to problems due to dry fingers, dirt or sensor surface damage because the S1 uses the so-called "inner layer" technology, i.e. the sensor reads below the surface of the skin for optimum reliability.
