SILEX SX-200-0213 Wired / SILEX SX-200-1213 Wireless - Wired
The series SX-200 print servers let multiple users share one USB or parallel-port printer via a wired or wireless network. This allows the users to fully utilize the benefits of maximum printing speeds and less waiting time due to shorter printing queues. The WLAN version also includes dual-band (2.4/5GHz) Tri-Mode 802.11a/b/g technology, giving the user the option to use the frequency band with the smallest load.
Both models offer the advantage of being able to place the print server at a safe place, where it is easy to administrate. Two ports in one unit significantly reduce the cost on a per-printer basis. Since only one network connection and one network address is required for two printers, the SX-200 saves additional costs.
SX-200 print servers offer security features on Enterprise level, like TCP/IP access control lists, complete protocol or application control (enable/disable), passwords for read/write access, and SNMP community name configuration. The WLAN version includes 802.1x EAP with TTLS or LEAP, PEAP and Open System and/or Shared Key Support with WEP encryption. In addition, WPA and Enterprise modes with TKIP encryption as well as WPA2 with AES are also integrated.
The SX-200 provides the option of being able to print simultaneously from different computer and network operating systems, including Windows, UNIX, Linux, Solaris, NetWare, Macintosh, OS/2, and DEC LAT. The USB 2.0 Hi-Speed port supports printers with USB 1.1 and 2.0 connections. The IEEE1284 parallel port is compatible with most parallel printers, including units with Hi-Speed ECP with bi-directional communication.
Despite its many options even inexperienced users will be comfortable with its installation and setup while the advanced configuration features are available to network experts.
